Campaigning
From time to time we take up issues of concern to disabled people and campaign. These can be local issues (we campaigned against the proposals to increase charges and limit criteria for adult social care in Lewisham in 2008) or national (we have been involved in the national campaign supporting the Independent Living Bill since 2006).
For us campaigning is not necessarily about demonstrating and waving placards (but that is not to say we won’t do it) rather it is about raising awareness, lobbying and influencing.
Although we no longer provide an Advocacy service we may be able to take up issues directly affecting an individual’s Independent Living.
